THE REINING MARES

2023 National Open Mare of the Year 

 

Sula is a multi RA and NRHA Futurity, Derby and National Champion. She has a double cross to one of Australia's most prolific broodmares Ineka Chex. She is a full sister to multiple National Champions. 

She is seven panel negative.

Bred by Dennis and Erin Neylon. Sula was the beginning of the journey back into reining.

"After eighteen months of looking  for a top mare to show I was lucky enough to have Sula's lovely owner Adrienne Lee Thomson finally agree to let her come and live with me in Feb 2025."

Lee bought Sula as a baby and she spent her early years and the bulk of her very successful show career being trained and shown by the super successful Ashleigh Backhouse. She has been one of the most consistent and winningest mares on the circuit over the last few years with multiple futurity, derby and open wins under the guidance of Ashleigh.

This stellar career culminated in  Sula being crowned with the prestigious title of RA OPEN MARE OF THE YEAR in 2023 and then she went home to mum Lee.

Sula is by the phenomenal Australian bred LIL NU IT ALL, by the highly successful import SHINY AND NU ( by the world famous SHINING SPARK - producer of so many champion reiners and cow horses, Shiny and Nu is a full brother to the the celebrated  SHINY NU ANNIE -  NRCHA earner of $104,961, NRCHA Open Fu- turity Reserve Champion; NRCHA #2 Leading Money-Earner; in 2015: NRCHA Celebration of Champions Open Derby Champion (Co-Champion of the Rein Work); 8th NRCHA Open Derby; 3rd NRCHA Derby Prelim. Open Fence Work; in AQHA: 2015 AQHA High Point Leader in Working Cow Horse Mares and she has produced foals that have earned $541,085.  

 

Lil Nu It All's dam is the 2015 Mare of the Year LILMISSNOIT ALL, who is the dam of many champions including Lil Miss Genius (2016 AND 2017 NP Mare of the Year) and the stunning NPH Gunnerbeagoodnite. 

 

Sula's dam is Winderadeen Chicka T Chex, by the phenomenal Terminator Whiz and from the very strong Winderadeen damline which includes the multi champion all rounders Winderadeen Inasmartchick. 

 

The cross of these two horses gives Sula an extremely valuable DOUBLE cross to possibly Australia's greatest producing mare, Ray Gabbert's YULGILBAR INNEKA CHEX - dam of super stars DO ME A FAVOUR,   LILMISSNOITALL, ONYA GUNNAGETYA,  ONYA IMA COOL STEP,  ONYA WAZZA and TERMINATOR WHIZ. She is the grand dam of LILNUITALL, ONYA GUNNERCASH CHEX, HASTA LA VISTA, PREDATOR  etc. so Sula having two close crosses to this matriarch makes her a very important addition to the reining and cowhorse breeding program here at Jamuna. Her breeding is saturated with many of Australia's greatest reiners AND some of the best cowhorse lines available in this country.

Once the youngsters are ready to show, the plan is to possibly ranch and cow horse Sula, as she has well and truly proven her ability as a reining horse. Her beautiful movement and extreme cowiness will be huge assets in the fast growing disciplines.
